Dog saved baby buried in field
An attentive dog proved itself to be the best friend of human in Thailand when it discovered and saved a baby allegedly buried in a field by its teenage mother.
Police has said the newborn was lying under a layer of dirt near a farm in the Chumpuang district of Nakhon Ratchasima province and was found the same day.
By curiosity the canine named Ping Pong, being hailed a hero dug around the area and began barking, alerting its owner, a cattle herder, who went to the site and discovered the baby.
"I don't think it was long after his mother buried him before the dog found him," the officer in charge of the case, Panuvat Udkam told a foreign newspaper.
He added that the boy is healthy and recovering in hospital. It was so young and had not been named yet.
Following investigation, the teenage mother was arrested and charged with attempted murder and abandonment of child.
The police officer said the suspect was 15 years old had tried to dispose of the child because she was afraid her parents would get angry with her. "So after she delivered the baby by herself she buried it," he said.
Local media coverage hailed the achievement and social media users praised Ping Pong's good deed.
